Florida Snakes
Florida is home of around 50 species of snakes distributed in all of its habitat types. Only 6 of these species are considered venomous. However, many snakes are persecuted due to fear and lack of knowledge, Snakes have important ecological roles such as being prey animals for many birds, mammals, and reptiles. They also control rodent population that can spread human diseases. Snakes are not aggressive towards humans and never chase people. Bites occur when snakes feel threatened after being step on or handled. Therefore, it is essential we all recognize their importance and acquire a more respectful attitude towards them.

Florida Lizards
Florida is home of more than 60 species of lizards from which 48 are nonnative to Florida. These species had been introduced across the state but the majority are established primarily in South Florida. Ecological impacts for most of these species on native lizards are currently unknown and unfortunately don't receive too much attention.
